Just after Christmas 2008, I had a shocking get-real moment when I realized that I was in serious trouble. I was watching an episode of Celebrity Rehab and shaking my head in amazement at the train wrecks the celebrities had made of their lives. They had everything, didn’t they? And yet there they were, addicted to some external thing that was not only making them feel miserable, but putting them in serious danger and destroying the very things they claimed to want most.
How could they do that to themselves?
And then it hit me.
I am addicted to food, and my addiction was putting me in every bit as much danger as cocaine, and meth and alcohol and whatever else those “real” addicts were using. At that moment, I made a life-altering decision to put myself in rehab and to work on overcoming my addiction to food once and for all.
Though I’m a bit late in getting started, this site is dedicated to my rehab and my journey to good health. I joined Weight Watchers in January 2009 at a beginning weight of 359.8 pounds. I hit my 5% mark in March and am trying now to reach my 10% mark.
